NATIONAL HONOURS

I think I am in favour of a national honours scheme for those who deserve them.  The lollipop man/woman who braves all weathers to help kids cross roads safely, the person who has worked endlessly for many years raising money for charities etc...

BUT, I am not so supportive when it comes to giving knighthoods and honours to sports and film personalities.  There is no doubt that Steve Redgrave, Bradley Wiggins etc have achieved some great results in their chosen sport BUT that is what they do as their day job!  They get paid to do it ... they get rewarded for good results with "prize money", OH YES and the post win opportunities and benefits of sponsorship, endorsement and merchandising are huge.  OK I hear you say but what about the years of training and dedication.....well what about the gaining of experience, the sacrifices and the the taking of professional exams that  "most people" undertake.  Their achievements (generally) are not recognised.

When did you last here of a customer advisor in a bank who has worked there for 25 years and given excellent service, worked long and extra hours, taken all sorts of abuse from customers and worked towards gaining the necessary qualifications - being made a dame or Knight of the Realm....no me neither.

IF WE MUST HAVE AN HONOURS SYSTEM LETS MAKE IT FOR THE PEOPLE WHO GO ABOVE AND BEYOND WHAT IS EXPECTED OF THEM AND NOT JUST REWARD OVERPAID PERSONALITIES FOR DOING THEIR JOB.

POOR KIDS

Just caught up with the list of the most unusual children's names of 2012

1.    Tinkerbell - Girl
2.    Nemo - Boy
3.    Sailor - Boy
4.    Buzz-Bee - Boy
5.    Zed - Boy
6.    Blade - Boy
7.    Zico - Boy
8.    Diesel – Boy
9.    Buttercup- Girl
10.  Bliss – Girl

Some adults don't deserve to have kids.  Can you imagine the bullying that Tinkerbell, Buzzbee and Zico are going to get at school? Just because their parents wanted to be "different".

COME ON FOLKS THINK OF THE REPERCUSSIONS OF GIVING YOUR KIDS ODD NAMES.  IT IS THEM THAT HAVE TO LIVE WITH THEM NOT YOU.

BOXING DAY SALES

Just seen the TV reporting on the queues outside London stores for the start of the sales.

Where are they all getting the money? I thought we were in a recession and cash was tight! I suspect credit cards will be getting a hammering and that the job for debt collectors and advisors is pretty safe for the next twelve months.

TIME AGAIN

I just cannot believe that it is over a year since I made my last entry in the blog...this has to change.

It isn't that there hasn't been things worth a moan, rather it is the lack of time to update. How can that be?  I have every opportunity to update as I can use my desktop, my laptop, my tablet and my smartphone.   The truth is that I forget.

Right, new year resolution - try and update the blog daily - well at leaset once a week/month.

Let's see how I get on this time.

A NEW YEARS RESOLUTION IS FOR LIFE NOT JUST NEW YEARS EVE!
