Why do we feel we have to apologise for actions that happened many years ago. Tonight the Film Academy have apologised to Sacheen Littlefeather because some idiots booed when she represented Marlon Brando in refusing an OSCAR almost 50 years ago.
Friends creator Marta Kauffman recently expressed her regret and apologised over the show’s lack of diversity and has pledged $4million (£3million) to support African American studies. Friends ran from 1994 to 2004.
We have apologised for our ancestor's involvement in slavery, the government has apologised for treatment of homsexuals in the 1930's 40's and 50's and so the list goes on.
Don't get me wrong, the actions of our predecessors do not always withstand scrutiny in todays world, BUT we seem to be tripping over ourselves to apologise on their behalf.
I AM SORRY THINGS HAPPENED MANY YEARS AGO BUT I AM NOT SURE THAT I WANT TO APOLOGISE FOR THE ACTIONS/SINS OF MY FOREFATHERS.
